PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The otter is a marten that is perfectly adapted to aquatic life, and is one of the best swimmers among land predators. Noteworthy is its muscular tail the longest within the marten family. This serves the otter as a control and stabilisation organ. Due to the unusual structure of his fur, the otter enjoys particularly effective insulation against cold and wet. The skin of the otter remains dry and the body warm, even though he doesn’t have thick insulating layer of fat like dolphins, whales, polar bears and sea lions. A total of 80 to 100 million hairs protect otters from losing body heat. Otters have no unified lifestyle: depending on the environment and individual inclinations, they adapt in order to survive as well as possible. They are both nocturnal and diurnal.
