Jhann Jhannsson : The Miner’s Hymns

This 2 LP reissue of Jhann Jhannsson’s ‘The Miners’ Hymns’ includes the bonus track Centennial as well as new additional liner notes and photos by filmmaker Bill Morrison. The album is a collaboration between Morrison and Jhann Jhannsson who, with images and music, created a wordless documentary to depict the ill-fated mining community in North East England. The film is a timely reminder of choices that were made a generation ago regarding the role of labour in a corporate-based economy, the repercussions of which are still being felt today.
