Joseph Chester : Au Revoir Tristesse

Inspired by Franoise Sagan’s novel ‘Bonjour Tristesse’, Joseph created a series of five bagatelles for solo classical guitar while in the midst of touring his acclaimed 2023 album ‘Lucia’. Subtitled, ‘a homage to sadness in 5 movements,’ each piece has a companion painting by Steve Wickham (The Waterboys). ‘Au Revoir Tristesse’ was mounted as an exhibition at the Axis Theatre in Dublin in January 2025 as part of the First Fortnight Festival.
