AURA NOIR’S 2008 OPUS OF SAVAGE BLACKENED THRASH. PRESENTED ON MID-PRICE CD INCLUDING RARE BONUS TRACKS / LP. Norway’s Aura Noir was formed in 1993 by Aggressor (Ved Buens Ende, ex-Dodheimsgard, as well as Ulver & Satyricon in their formative years) & Apollyon (Coffin Storm, ex-Dodheimsgard, ex-Immortal). In pursuit of a more thrash-based form of black metal than what was coming out at the time – particularly in their homeland – bands such as Slayer, Sodom & Kreator were cited as inspirations along with purveyors of the scene such as Venom, for a dirtier, stripped down, violent black/thrash metal sound. The core trio was completed by Blasphemer, formerly of fellow Norwegian legends Mayhem, as well as being current mainman in his recently established band, Ruim.
